making howtopedia available OFFLINE
dear howtopedia
I wish you all maximum luck with this worthy project. I single-handedly run www.cd3wd.com
The success of cd3wd is largly due to our emphasis on making material available in huge quantities and also OFFLINE. Please consider that in your business model. I hope we can collaborate....
best regards

Uhm your disclaimer isn't working. I agree to the great 404 not found... ;) Great idea though!! Loads of applicable info, hope it grows and can be creative commons info... skoria at gmail.
Login bug
I successfully created an account, but get the error "Login error: Howtopedia - english uses cookies to log in users. You have cookies disabled. Please enable them and try again."This is not true, as I have cookes set, and successfully use them to stay logged in to other sites. -- Chriswaterguy from Appropedia 10:42, 12 February 2007 (CET)
- In spite of the error message it seems to have logged me in anyway... --Chriswaterguy 10:57, 12 February 2007 (CET)
Let's collaborate, not compete - Howtopedia, Appropedia and TipThePlanet
This site has great stuff, but it would be unfortunate if we couldn't work out a way to collaborate more closely. I've been working on Appropedia for some months now - I originally had my own wiki, but merged when we managed to agree on a broader scope, covering broader development issues and also sustainability.
Recently we merged with WikiGreen, with much enthusiasm on both sides, which has helped to lift our combined web presence. Recently I've discovered TipThePlanet, which is slightly different again, but very complementary.
Let's get some synergy happening. My opinion (and of course this is up for discussion) I think it would work best if we all got together on a single site. Among other things, we'd avoid duplication of effort, in each porting material (with permission) from people like Practical Action.
On top of that, we'd have a more active community, combining our strengths and getting a higher profile (and more Google hits, diggs, huggs, glog posts etc). What do you think? How can we best work together? --Chriswaterguy 10:56, 12 February 2007 (CET)
This may be helpful for PDF's
I know Howtopedia converts a lot of PDF's. We've finally found some ways to do this more easily - see Porting PDF files to MediaWiki. Hope that helps. --Chriswaterguy 07:54, 7 March 2008 (CET)
